Visit and Field Trip!!

Becky and Amber, Willie's daughters, made a quick post-Father's Day trip to visit and wish their dad Happy Father's Day.  We enjoyed their time with us and especially enjoyed taking them to one of our favorite hiking spots....right on the Tennessee/North Caroline line.

On our way up to Carver's Gap, we took a  little detour on one of the less-traveled roads, and were struck by the view from this home....WOW!
And this is what greeted us as we exited the parking area and headed for the trail...
Taking advantage of the natural cooling of the forest before heading back out onto the Balds...
This rock is a favorite resting and photo-op spot all in one....
The view is always awesome, no matter the season.

I am always in awe of the multitude of layers of those beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains....don't think you can see the last ridge in this photo due to the haze, but beautiful, nonetheless!
There's always one in the bunch!   Photobomber, that is...
And since I had been busily taking photos, Willie confiscated the camera to take one of me...
And Amber contributed by snapping this one of us...but to me, as handsome as my honey is, the beautiful mountains eclipse us both!  LOL
I took this one just to prove that, yes, Amber and Becky did hike a small portion of the Appalachian Trail!  See that white blaze....well, that's the proof!
Another favorite photo-op spot....the beauty is all around....

And there is beauty in the smallest of details....the stripes and the spots of yellow on this dainty flower hiding  amongst all the green...
Well, our little trek was almost over, but I love little vignettes like old rail fences...

Notice in the far right of the photo the "Welcome to North Carolina" sign.....yes, we were that close!
So long until next time.....maybe next time we'll make it back up to Jane Bald....ummm, if we're ready to go rock climbing that is!
Thanks for checking in with us, and thanks, Becky and Amber for a good visit....
