I am a daughter, wife, mother of three, step-mother of four, mother-in-law, grandmother of eleven (you can call me "Mimi"), friend and most importantly, child of God.
Through the years I have "worn" many additional hats...student, secretary, pre-school teacher, ombudsman, administrative assistant, and paralegal, just to name a few. But those are not who I am....the things that I love are who I am.
I LOVE music..God gave us music and I feel the closest connection to Him and the greatest joy when I am singing (whether it is by myself, as part of a group, gathered around a campfire, sharing my story through song or leading worship)....it seems that is when he usually chooses to "speak" to and sometimes through me.
A new passion of mine is photography. Right now, I use a Canon point-and-shoot that really does a pretty decent job....that is, if the photographer is doing her job! I someday hope to graduate to a digital SLR (Vivitar would be nice since I already have two Vivitar lenses), but in the meantime I love to get out and about and just "shoot away". God's world provides us with so many moments of beauty, both big and small, and I love to capture them. This summer I hope to take a photography class to get all the pointers I can....a beginner can always use all the help they can get....and that's me!
Anything crafty - another love of mine. Pressed flower note cards are one of my current crafty creations. I enjoy everything about it, from collecting and pressing the flowers, to embossing the cards, to arranging them to make something pleasing to the eye! I also thoroughly enjoy scrapbooking...something about creating a page that preserves precious memories brings me satisfaction and a sense of passing those memories along to those we hold dear.
This summer will be the first time in many, many years (remember those ten years in an RV?) that we will be able to have a garden, and I love a garden....the act of digging in the dirt, planting seeds, watching them grow and tending them til harvest. And then enjoying the "fruits of our labor"! May even try canning this summer....oh, my, I AM becoming my mother!
To go along with that gardening....well, I just looooove cooking and baking. New recipes are always an adventure, and more often than not, the results are very satisfying (sometimes too much so). I am always on the lookout for new and healthier recipes, so please feel free to share your favorites with me.
Above all, I am a child of God who wants to continue to grow in Him and to become more and more like what He has in mind for me. I know that I fall far short, but I am determined to continue this journey and to discover new things every day.
