Following in the Footsteps....

Even when we are "on the road", Willie tries to donate blood whenever he can, so this Wednesday when there was a blood drive at church he was one of the first to sign up.  When Wednesday came,  a cool thing happened......Cody, our 17 year old grandson, came over to give blood also!  Following in his grandfather's footsteps....
Getting ready.....
.....with his proud mama....
And so it begins.......
......followed by some munchies after a successful donation.....
.....and that's how a new generation of donors is born!
Way to go, Cody!!!

PHOTOS

These are a few of the promised photos.....these were taken during Brandon's stay with us this past week....
from the playground...
...to helping Pa change the sign in front of the church.....
....and then it was back to the motorhome for some homework.
Then Brandon helped Pa with some of his "homework".....making our
"must see/do" list for our trek to Alaska next summer....
The crowning touch was when Daisy sat on the sofa by Mr. B and let him pet her....she's usually not too keen on that, so he felt really special!
It is always great to spend time with grandkids....and we look forward to more time with those special people in our lives.....love you all!

Date Night!!!

Last night was date night.....and we had a wonderful time!   Decided at the last minute to get tickets for the Brad Paisley concert at the VaBeach amphitheatre....WOW!
We heard music from 5:00 until 11:15 pm....three acts outside on the pavilion stage and then on the main stage....Justin Moore, followed by Darius Rucker......
before the main act of the evening, Brad Paisley.  We were pleased with our seats, especially since we didn't get them until that morning.  I really enjoyed the use of the stage and the screens (remember this IS the H2O tour)....
(Not too bad for my little Canon, now is it?!)
Back to those seats we were pleased to be sitting in.....about halfway through his set, we were REALLY pleased to have those seats.....Brad Paisley actually came down into the audience and did two and a half songs from a small platform about fifteen feet away from us.  It was almost like he was sitting in our living room - well, if our living room were larger than the one we have in the motorhome!  To top it off, it made for some awesome photos, wouldn't you agree?
That was an unexpected treat!

And then Willie got his wish when this came up on the screen...
because he knew it meant Brad was going to sing "The Fishing Song", as he calls it!
All in all, it was a great date night.....and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing it with my honey!

I know, I still have to post photos from the past couple of weeks, but wanted to make sure I got these posted right away so I could share our good time with all of you.

On a side note, congratulations and best wishes go out to Kristin and Joel Carman, who were married today here in VaBeach.  Also congratulations to our good friends, Buster and Mary Taylor, on the birth of their THIRD grandchild, Piper Joy, born this past Thursday.  Sorry, guys....you have a looooooong way to go to catch up with us!

We've arrived!

Yes, we have arrived in VaBeach.....oops, that was two weeks ago!   Yes, I know, I am more than a little behind in my posting.  Which of my repertoire of excuses shall I trot out this time?  I think I've used most of them, so I'll just forgo the excuses and get on to the business of updating!

Let's see, after we arrived in VaBeach it took a few days to get everything all set power-wise (changing from a 20 amp circuit to a 50 amp....YAY!).  Believe me, I certainly appreciated the 50 amp circuit a few days ago when the temperature was in the 90s.....I do need me some air conditioning on those days!  I must say, tho', that the folks here at TCN have been extremely helpful and gracious in helping us to get what we need to settle in for the summer.

Willie has already been busy doing landscaping....he does love to work outside!  We have already had visits with some of our family and look forward to getting up with others over the next few weeks.  This week, we have had Brandon while his mom has taken a short vacation trip to the mountains.  It has been fun, and Brandon has been very easy to be with.....when it's bedtime, he crawls up on our bed, closes his eyes (after a short story) and is soon deep in slumber!  Kudos to his mom!!

Last weekend I was able to participate in an overnight scrapbooking event with the ladies of the church.....I had forgotten how much I enjoyed them and our times of sharing and laughter.  I'm so glad that I'll be here for a couple more of these before we head out for our fall projects.

Willie took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed for Langley Speedway and the Saturday night races with one of the men from church.....both men reported that it was a great evening of racing and fellowship.  Jennifer and I took advantage of the evening to go enjoy a mother/daughter pedicure.....it's been years since I had a pedicure....all I can say is, "Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.  When is the next one?!!"

We've enjoyed time with family, friends and church.....and we look forward to many more hours of fellowship with family and friends while we are here.  If you are in the Tidewater area and would like to catch up with us, be sure and give us a call.....we'd love to see you!!

Be sure to check back soon.....I'll be posting pictures from a variety of events shortly!

Oh!!  If you are in the Tidewater area, be on the lookout for our grandson, Cody....he just acquired his "wheels"!!  You never know where you might see him!
