Downtown Jonesborough

As promised, here are a few pics of our "stroll" (more like a hobble for me) through downtown Jonesborough.  In truth, tho', I took quite a few photos from the safety of a sidewalk bench.

After we saw this sign (above)....this was B's reaction when we asked him to stand on the porch of this old log house...he would NOT (no way, no how) get any closer.   And the expression on his face says it all!  LOL

Five Cent Tour

Yesterday we made the trek over to DoeRiverGorge....it was a little cool, but still a beautiful day.  Since I still wasn't up for a lot of walking, I stayed close to the office and took photos while the others took the five cent tour, as Willie usually calls it!

And of course, I had to include one with a bee...even if it wasn't a honeybee!

Now it's time to head down to the horse pasture so Brandon can feed the horses.....

Unfortunately, I couldn't get any photos of the actual "feeding"....the uneven ground and my foot just didn't get along!

Also unfortunately, these may be the only photos of our grapes this year....while we were in Nashville, the hard frost wreaked havoc on what I was hoping would be an abundant grape harvest this year.  (Insert BIG sad face here!)
Tomorrow is "explore Jonesborough" day....so check back for some more photo updates later this weekend!

One of the things that I have loved about this area from the beginning is the beauty of the seasons...and that it's not always gloomy and rainy or bright sunshine....we get a real mix!   And one day earlier this week, we got a real mix!  From this....

...to this......

....all in the space of just a couple of hours and all on "Our Green Acre"!!!  I love it!

I couldn't sign off, tho', without sharing a photo of our first meal of the year that was largely comprise of fresh "stuff" from our garden!
Pecan-crusted salmon on lettuce, spinach and chard!
No, we don't have a salmon farm in the backyard, but all that yummmmmmy green stuff was from our garden!  Now, I can hardly wait to see those spring peas start bloomin' and being able to pick fresh kale and purple cabbage...along with lots of other goodies.

Since tomorrow is the day we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, I want to close with a picture that reminds me so much of where I am living my life these days....in the knowledge that even tho' the situations of life often seem on the gloomy side, I can take hope in the knowledge that just as sure as that sunrise signals another day....

....that Sunday is a'comin'!!!

Speedway in Lights

BristolMotorSpeedway hosts "Speedway in Lights" during each Christmas Season as a fundraiser for Speedway Children's Charities.  This year we took some of the Tyrees on Thanksgiving night and the McKissicks later in December. It is truly a festive and fun event....here are just a few pics of the lights and some of the fun in the infield.
