Just a quick run-down....May has included....
Yard time. We have loved discovering all of the treasures in our yard....but uncovering some of them (like the grape vine....oh, how I hope it survives and flourishes) has taken more than a little effort. It was absolutely engulfed with honeysuckle vines! Now maybe it will at least have a shot at surviving...not expecting any grapes this year....maybe next? We (actually, my wonderful hubby), cut down two cedar trees that had almost killed one of our apple trees...
I think there's some cherry cobbler in my future!
And then there's gardening time. Loving this square-foot gardening system. Especially loving the fresh spinach and lettuce, and looking forward to the sugar snaps and carrots...not to mention the broccoli,
cabbage, peppers and tomatoes! Unfortunately, the radishes are done with....for this year, anyway. I'll share more on our garden another time....just so cool to look out the kitchen window and see all that goodness flourishing out there!
New friends time. We had dinner earlier this month with two wonderful couples that were part of our Starting Point group at church....delightful evening and even more delightful company. AND we had dinner with Willie's "bee mentor", Joe, and his wife Patty....another wonderful evening and more new friends. God is soooooo good!
And that doesn't include the usual activities of life around here...nor the times that are yet to come......
Family time. Amber and her three children (Sierra, Kaila and Tyreese) are coming to spend Memorial Day weekend with us....should be a fun time.
Oh....did I forget to mention BEE time? I am surprised at how fascinated I have become with the little creatures....they are so very simple, yet at the same time complex.
See the different colors in the cells? The different colors are from different types of pollen! And these guys are tending to the brood (egg) cells....more bees in the making!
See the one with the "glowing" white dot? She's THE queen...larger and no stripes on her abdomen, and she's doing what she does best....laying eggs.....YAY!!
That was about ten days ago...the next pictures are from four days ago. We had thought it might be time to add a super, but the cool rainy weather slowed them down....probably next week.
More brood, with capped honey in the upper left corner!
Lots and lots of brood!
Speaking of time.....I think it's time for me to sign off for now....have a blessed day.
Photos look great!! Hope the bees are keeping you two entertained!
