One down...

One down and two to go....in this project, that is.  On Monday we started our first project in several months here at Doe River Gorge
in eastern TN.  There are three couples here this month, and there will be six next month (wonder if the peak of the expected fall color has anything to do with that).  King and Jackie Fulton, group leaders, and Rusty and Tanja Johnson (on their second project), along with yours truly, have already been busy at work....the guys built four sets of cornhole boards, Willie built a carp containment cage (more on THAT later), and they have been varnishing the tongue and groove walls in one of the lodges.  The ladies have not been idle, either.  We made 80 corn bags
for the cornhole games, started on the mountains of laundry (also a story for another day) and made a first pass at cleaning the offices.

In April of 2009, we witnessed the transformation from the "dead" of winter to the "life" of spring....and I'm looking forward to seeing the area go from the green lush of summer to the rich, vibrant hues of fall....so be on the lookout for LOTS of photos!  For now, I'll share just a couple of pics taken during one of my walks...
These beauties can be be seen flying around all the flowerbeds on the grounds
....and this one even landed on the gravel next to our motorhome....
but my favorite (so far, that is) would have to be this one....

While we are enjoying the beautiful weather here in these TN mountains, our thoughts and prayers are with family and friends in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach/Cheseapeake area as they await the arrival of  Hurricane Earl.
