Papa and Mimi Camp Day #2

Day 2 of Camp dawned bright and early.  Can you quess what the theme for today is?
I can tell you there were some very excited boys!  Honestly, tho' I think Willie was more excited than they were, because he knew what was planned for the afternoon.  But first, we had some races down the hill by our house....

Whew.....racing is hard work and deserves a reward....like apple slice race cars with frozen grapes for the wheels....YUM!
And then after lunch we were off for our afternoon adventure...we are going WHERE?!
Yup...Bristol Speedway for a tour of the track AND the facility!
We started out with a ride down the Thunder Valley Dragstrip....puts everything in a different perspective, let me tell you!
And then it was on to the Speedway....the world's last great coliseum...
Driving under the grandstands...
We even had a tour of Bruton Smith's (the owner of the track) personal suite overlooking the track....

The view of the track from the suite...

Now it's time for the part Willie was really looking forward to....climbing the track in one of the turns....
We all made it to the wall, but it was more than a little unnerving for this little one....
He decided he'd rather slide down than walk, but we talked him out of it....not sure his shorts would survive!
Our tour guide took this cool shot for us...
After you conquer the track, you just have to make a trip to Victory Lane!
And, as I told the boys, we are ALL winners!
Thanks, Bristol Motorsports for a fun time....
Wonder what Day #3 was?  Check back soon (later today....because we have another grandkid visit on the horizon AND I need to catch up) for more adventures from Papa and Mimi Camp.
