This has been a VERY busy week...between working the project, taking care of a few "house" things, and activities with our SOWER friends! On Tuesday evening eleven of our group drove in to Jonesborough for an evening of storytelling at The Cranberry Thistle. Again, we were fortunate to hear the Story-Teller-in-Residence for the week, in addition to several of the local tellers....and, of course, I had to sample the cranberry/white chocolate scone....yum, yum. Oh, yes.....we did enjoy the storytelling, too!
On Thursday, we invited the three SOWER couples from the Biblica project (aka Send The Light) here in Elizabethton, along with Doug and Anne Adams (SOWERs who live in the area), for a soup and dessert buffet. We enjoyed a great evening of great fellowship and yummy food....but, sorry, no pics....I was too busy slurping soup or talking!
Now for the picture-heavy portion of this post.
Friday morning was the appointed time for our trek to the Creeper Trail, which runs through Virginia and Tennessee. The group (minus several, including me....unfortunately) gathered in the cold, windy weather,
ready to head to the White Top station in TN. Willie tells me that is just a portion of the bikes that were parked up here....can you imagine what it must have been like today....a Saturday?
The portion of the trail they rode stretched 17 miles from the station at White Top, TN to Damascus, VA, all on an old rail bed....AND all downhill.
It was a long day, but everyone enjoyed the ride and the beauty....tho' I did hear a little talk of some uncomfortable seats. Wonder what THAT was all about??!
Today was not nearly so cool, so we, along with Emmett and JoAnne White, headed out to see the fall colors...
A good day, shared with good friends.....what a perfect Saturday!
Oh my, your pictures could be in an art book! What beautiful colors. Riding downhill all the way - that's my kind of trail!
