What in the world have we been doing the last few days? Well, apart from "house stuff", we HAVE been enjoying the activities and sights in this part of TN. On Saturday, we watched (and took advantage of the photo ops) as participants in the Father/Son weekend here at Doe River Gorge embarked on a couple of challenging and different activities...like the "Greased Pig Chase"
and the Carp Wrangling....
That was quite a show, I tell you....and the water wasn't warm....better them than me! But it WAS a great bonding experience, as was the whole weekend, for these fathers and sons.
Of course, we had to stop by the horse pastures, especially since I had brought along some apples to feed these beauties...
But FIRST.....Willie had to coax them to come to the fence....my own personal "horse-whisperer"!
And I loooove this shot of Jackie admiring this equine beauty...
Saturday evening we drove up to Hiltons, VA to the Carter Family Fold for a bluegrass concert....normally, bluegrass is not my preferred style of music, but it was a good concert (the Boxcars were the featured group) and the venue is unique....
and the clogging is something else to behold. I don't see how anyone who really does that well could have an extra ounce of fat on them anywhere. A fun evening, and one we would suggest it if you are ever in this area.
On Sunday afternoon some of our group went to the Watuaga Dam overlook and met up with the SOWERs group from Biblica....the other SOWERs project in Elizabethtown! It was such a beautiful view and gorgeous afternoon that Willie called me to drive up and join him...oh, am I ever glad I did! What a view,,,,
We took a short hike, sat at one of the picnic tables munching on our cheese and crackers, and just enjoyed a gorgeous day!
In my next post, I'll try to catch you up on where we are in the home-buying process...16 days and counting! Can't tell we're excited, can you? Plus, there will be more photos of the beautiful fall colors emerging around here....every day the scenery just becomes more breath-taking. Until then, look around you for the beauty that feeds the soul....mine is overflowing right now!
