An Unexpected Adventure!

A few weeks ago Willie got a phone call from Jon, our son, asking what our plans were for the weekend.  The short of it is that if we made the trip over to Franklin, Willie would have the opportunity to go skydiving that Sunday afternoon. He said, "Sure"....and then proceeded to say, "What have I just agreed to?!!"  Skydiving is something he had always wanted to do, but now that it was going to happen, he started questioning the wisdom of that choice....just a touch of nervousness creeping in!

But Sunday afternoon found us at Adventure Skydiving Tennessee, and even tho' he was still a mite nervous, he was ready to do this!
The plane (he hadn't been in a plane for 20+ years, and now this is THE plane?!)
And the chutes....
"Signing his life away"...JK, it was just a lengthy questionnaire and a waiver!
Willie and Melodie all geared up to jump!
Harrell (his tandem jump buddy) doing one last check to make sure everything was as it should be....thanks, Harrell!
Almost time!
He's really gonna' do this....
Harrell is all thumbs up....where's YOUR thumbs up, Willie?!  Guess you've heard, "Last one in is the first one out"?  Yup, Willie and Harrell were the last ones in so they will be the first tandem jump of this load!

And they're "flying"!!!
Freefalling - almost 3 miles above the earth....what a view!
Willie said they told him to smile, but he was having to remember to breathe....forget about smiling!

Main chute is deployed....now it's just a quiet four minute ride back to terra firma....

Coming in for their landing...

What a ride, what a rush!
And now it's official!

Mr. Man is soooo glad he did this skydiving adventure, but he says once is enough for him!  Thanks, Jon and Melodie for making this a reality and not just a "I want to"!  And thanks to Adventure Skydiving Tennessee for making it a fun and safe afternoon!

Next up....our adventures with our granddaughter Sierra....don't forget to check back!
