Our outdoor adventure for the week was a hike up Roan Mountain...but we made a stop before we even got there, just to appreciate the view....
Then it was on to Carver's Gap, which straddles both Tennessee and North Carolina....Sierra thought this was incredibly neat!
And of course, we had to stop at "the photo op rock" for an official photo....
Our first real stop was at Round Bald...an easy 1/2 mi hike from the parking area.  No matter the season, no matter the weather, the view is always beautiful.
We saw LOTS of these on our hike....in various stages.  Not sure what they were, but the bees and other flying critters loooved 'em.

As we were hiking from Round to Jane Bald, we saw this group of hikers camped on the back side of Round Bald.
We never knew if it was going to be cloudy or sunny...but again, always beautiful!
Almost there, after hiking (climbing) up a rock wash....
And, yes, we all made it!

Not quite on top of the world, but Miss Sierra is definitely up there....on top of Jane Bald!

On our drive back down through the State Park, we stopped to admire this field of wildflowers...

...take time for a short hike down by the creek....
...and I'll think we'll mark this one down in the "another good day" column!

We did slip in a few other activities....Sierra and I made it the movies one afternoon to see "How To Train Your Dragon, 2", she and Grandpa Willie had a friendly Wii competition...
Grandpa helped her make a soda bottle finch feeder...

...and like most of the kids, she spent considerable time with the Legos!
We enjoy spending time with each of the grandkids....and we certainly enjoyed this week with Sierra, a girl who is growing up into a beautiful and sweet young lady!

Next up on the agenda is our day with Kaila and Tyreese....wonder what we'll find to do in Charlottesville?
