These are the fabrics that I purchased for the pillows for our living room couch and love seat. Can't tell from the photo, but there are lots of different textures....the patterned fabric is almost like a cut-velvet, the brown is a denim, the light teal (darker in "real" life) is similar to a nubby silk, and the green is a sturdy cotton fabric. When I first chose the patterned fabric I THOUGHT it matched the candle holder that I was using as a color guide for that room. Whada ya think?
I think I did pretty darn good!
Back to the rainy/snowy day. I really wanted to get in there and get some of those pillows done, but knew that I also wanted to make a pattern for the chair seat BEFORE I cut out pillows so that I would be sure to have enough. Once I cut out the fabric for the chairs, I really wanted to see what it would look like. So hubby, being the wonderful man that he is (plus, he was bored....days spent indoors do that to him) took a chair apart so that I could do just that.
The "Before"..
(And, yes, that's our little Daisy....hoping to find something under that chair.)
And this is the "After"....
Then, pursuant to hubby's suggestion, I finished all six chairs instead of diving into the pillow making business. I must say, tho', he was right....while we were doing it, let's do 'em all and finish that project. I'm glad we did....'cause now that I can see them all around the table, I know that I'm happy with my choice of fabric. Makes me more anxious to "finish" that area of our home. Still looking for a dresser or buffet and deciding what I want in the center of the table....
Spring definitely needs to hurry up so I can start doing the yard sale thing and find me some inexpensive goodies!
Hubby knew that I was going to run out of staples before I finished the recovering process yesterday, so he made a quick trip out in the weather
(his idea, not mine....but isn't he just the best?) to TruValue to make sure I had enough. Must have been a God-ordained desire, because while there he "ran into" someone that we had met on a couple of occasions and really wanted to get to know better. And now we can....we have an address and phone number!
And tomorrow we are going to a neighboring town to meet some fellow SOWERs who are really big into the more natural lifestyle that we are striving for. Can't wait to meet them and to hear how they do what they do....sounds vague, huh? Well, it is, because I'm not real sure what all they are doing, but am looking forward to finding out and seeing what we can incorporate here.
This weekend I will be attending the Women's Weekend at our church..."Life Is Good, or Is It?" I can certainly relate to that! Sometimes when everything seems to be going so well, you only have to look below the surface to see that it really isn't all that great. But it is soooo good to know that even when life doesn't seem to be all that good at any given time, that my God is ALWAYS good!
