Need I say that it snowed again last night AND this afternoon? Well, it did, tho' thankfully there was no more accumulation....YAY, God, for that small (?) favor!!
As with so many other things, I am waaaaay behind on birthday and annniversary celebration shout-outs in our family. I know there are probably others that I have missed, but I am going to start with Lucas, our youngest grandson, who turned one on October 27th - just two days before we closed on the house, so I am sure if he were old enough to be aware of my lapse, he would forgive me....right?
And then December rolled around, and with it a slew of birthday/anniversary celebrations....
On December 7th, Janelle and Chris reached a milestone.....ten years of marriage. Ooops....I stand corrected....NINE years of marriage...still a wonderful thing! Unfortunately, Chris had already left for another eight month deployment, so they "celebrated" separately.
December 11th marked Becky's 42nd birthday....wow, is that really possible? She celebrated by going to see the musical "Lion King."
The 18th was Jennifer's birthday....and as always happens, she was the same age as her older brother (32 this year) for three short weeks.
Willie's birthday was the 22nd, and we were so glad that Becky, Amber and Cody could be here to celebrate it with us (more on their visit in another post).....Medicare age is fast approaching....but you can't keep that man down....LOVES to be working outside, so these snow days are a little tough for him, but he is coping.....painting chairs, shoveling snow, keeping the bird feeders filled (VERY important, don't you think), crossword puzzles, reading.
And then there was the 25th.....and the most important celebration of all....Christ's birth. It was a quiet celebration for us this year, but the depth of the meaning and impact on our lives is no less great.
Cody, our grandson, had his 18th birthday on January 1st. He was on his way back from a youth winter retreat and they were temporarily stranded, so not sure how much celebrating he did.....maybe he's saving it for graduation this spring!
And then to bring us up-to-date....Jon celebrated his 33rd birthday on January 9th....sorry, Jenn...you're not the same age anymore! (FYI - Jon was born in January 1978 and Jennifer in December of the same year....and for those of you who are wondering....yes, I was VERY busy!)
Hmmmmmm....I would definitely count all of these celebrations as blessings. What are your blessings today?
As a heads-up, I'll try to share a little of our Thanksgiving trip and our pre-Christmas visit with Becky, Amber and Cody in the next post.
