We thoroughly enjoyed our time here at Lake Powell....
but after traveling (in open Jeep trucks) through Page and traversing the dry river bed on the Navajo reservation, we are ready to enter the Antelope Slot Canyon. These photo tours are all led by Navajo guides. My only wish is that it hadn't felt so rushed.....I so badly wanted to stop and try different settings, but the tours are held to a pretty tight schedule time-wise. And, yes, that narrow opening is where we are going!
Oh, the beauty of the formations created by water as it rushes through this NARROW canyon! During certain times of the year, they have to have "scouts" posted upstream so they can evacuate this portion of the canyon if the water starts to rise. (I certainly wouldn't want to be caught in here if that were the case! But otherwise....I could have stayed all day...simply soaking in all this majestic scenery!)

Just a quick change of setting and...oh, the difference!
For someone who loves and is fascinated by colors, light, forms, texture and contrasts, this experience was an absolute dream!
Isn't the beauty of God's artistry simply amazing?!!
We exited into a red-rock wonderland....
...and now it's time to return the way we came....just not enough time to snap more than a photo or two on the way out, but my soul has been fed with all the beauty we have seen! For both of us, this has definitely been one of the highlights of our trip! What an amazing experience.
We are now headed through the Painted Desert toward the Grand Canyon....
...but first a stop at an overlook where the Indian sellers set up shop. No surprise, tho'....this is what caught Willie's eye....
.....and it raises the question of why you would need to chain a porta-potty to the guard rail...afraid someone would steal it? Or more likely so it wouldn't blow over and go tumbling down into the valley below!
Our lunch stop was in Cameron, AZ, at a popular establishment famous for their Navajo fry bread. This was Willie's attempt to deal with the wait for our food!
And then it's back on the road, headed for Grand Canyon National Park.
Here's hoping the rain holds off once we get there!
