An occasional ray of sunshine made its way through the clouds and lit up areas of the landscape...
That glorious sunlight sure did light up the rock formations and bring out the colors....
....and now the sun is once again hiding, but it's impossible to totally hide these wonderful colors!
And then there's my dear hubby...always a ray of sunshine!
As for me, I think I'm a little wet from the occasional rain shower, but, hey, we're at the Grand Canyon....gotta get a picture here, right?!
We made our way to the top of this tower....
....and were rewarded with spectacular views. All, I can say is, "AMEN!"
We walked along the rim on the way to the Visitor's Center area...
The sagebrush were in bloom and their vibrant yellow made a nice contrast to the rugged beauty below...
I'm not sure what these pinkish-white flowers were, but they were beautiful in their own way.And a little more sunshine shows off the colors...
...but here come the clouds again! All in all, tho', we felt blessed to be able to be here at this wonderful National Park and be able to enjoy it. A few sprinkles never hurt anyone....at least that's what my momma used to say!
It's time to head for the coach, but, first, a little sampling of some of the fauna, and even a little flora, of the area...
A young elk feasting on the undergrowth...
...and some of the tree growth...Looks like the youngin' is not too sure about all these tourists taking his picture. I just love the look he's giving us!!
Tonight we will be staying in a lodge across the street from the rim....talk about location, location, location! We walked to dinner with our travel buddies and, in the dusk of the evening, spotted this mountain bluebird...
After a delicious dinner in the Arizona Room, overlooking the Canyon, no less, we made our way back to the lodge. Talk about dark....had to use the flashlight on our phones to see our way! It has been a wonderful, but long and tiring day. After a good night's sleep, we'll have a little while to view the Canyon again before we head on to our next destination.
