Today - Day 3 - is a travel day. We are going by tour bus from the lodge at Copper River Canyon to Fairbanks....with lots of photo ops along the way, or so we are promised if it stops raining! Hmmmm....doesn't look too promising, does it? But weather in Alaska is changeable....for one minute to the next!
And we are ever so glad for the clearing skies and the beautiful scenery around every bend in the road!It is amazing to see the beautiful fall colors against the white of the snow on the mountains....
....and the colors of the mountains themselves!
This bald eagle was perched on a branch that hung out over the road....and just sat and watched us as the bus stopped so we could get a good look. I think it must have had its eye on some fish in the lake across the road and wasn't bothered by us, in the least.
More beautiful views....what happened to the rain?!
We came around a curve and there it was....a mountain of many colors! The photos don't begin to show the gloriousness of the colors....
...and around yet another curve is this beautiful sight...a low-lying rainbow bathing the mountain in color....
And that was just the morning's views! Oh, except for this moose grazing on the side of the road...
We finally made it to our lunch destination...Rika's Roadhouse. Finding it was in and of itself an adventure, but once there we enjoyed the break and the food!
I wanted to hurry and eat so I could get outside and take some pics of just a few of the photo-worthy things I saw on our way in....
Our last stop of the day before arriving in Fairbanks, our home for the next couple of nights, was North Pole, Alaska where there were lots of opportunities to have your photo taken...with or without Santa Claus!
Now it's time to rest up and get ready for another busy day of adventures tomorrow....zzzzzzzzzz!
