Our morning started with a yummy breakfast at the Inn...and then we took a walk around the property...
The clouds were hanging low, which made for a beautiful view....
There's even a teepee which we wished we had known about the night before....imagine sitting around the fire with a few of your "closest new friends"...
Now the clouds are lifting you can see some of the ski runs....the Jackson Hole area is famous for its winter sports.
We met up with new friends, Bob and Nancy, and headed into town....first stop was the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, complete with saddles for barstools, no less!
Bob is showing off his million dollar smile here, me thinks!
This is a different kind of door handle!
EEEK! Looks like the bear is the one ready to do a little gnawing in this picture!Elk horns....
...over 2,000 in each of the four arches on the corners of this square. A VERY popular place for photo ops, and we were no different....taking advantage of the uniqueness.
Yup...we will be doing this (riding the Snake River) in the afternoon....but I certainly hope there are no bears in our boat! Our guide.....
And we are off.....
We weren't the only ones on the river today...
Our first eagle sighting of the afternoon...
Our second eagle of the afternoon....
The clouds started getting heavier and darker...
...but we were still able to spot even more eagles.
And...the rain finally came...but the guides were well-prepared with ponchos for all!
....and we had a blast! I think there was more laughter on our boat than any of the others! Thanks, Nancy, for the pic!
This beauty was one of a pair that we saw.....
Ahhhh. the colors.....
...as the sun tries to break through the clouds....
Evidence of beaver activity on the riverbank....
Wait! That's a pelican....in September....in Wyoming?! Our guide laughed and said that he must have gotten lost or there may be something wrong with him/her as he/she did not migrate south with the rest of the Wyoming pelicans. Wyoming pelicans?! I certainly never expected to see them way up here.
We saw a total of seven eagles, two osprey, one duck, one cow (no, it wasn't a moose....drat it), and one pelican. Pretty good sightings for this cloudy, rainy, chilly afternoon.
And as we prepare to disembark, the sun comes out and lights up the blue Wyoming sky....
....perfect end to a great ride! Now it's time to board the bus and head back into Jackson....
..and find some dinner! We ended up at MacPhail's, a local hamburger "joint", located in what used to be an old Taco Bell. They grind their beef and bison every morning for the BEST burgers ever! and their sweet potato fries were pretty spot-on, too. Thanks to our guide for the recommendation when we asked where the locals ate.
Tomorrow we will leave Jackson and head into Salt Lake City...and a tour of Temple Square.
